Call for Artists - Reflections Auction

CALL FOR ARTISTS!

Calling all artists! Submit your painted, redesigned or reimagined mirrors that explore the concept of reflection and examine themes of identity, perception, space and self-awareness. All submissions will be auctioned on April 25, with proceeds supporting community arts initiatives and architectural education programs. 

Artist Registration Closes February 6

Artist Submissions Due March 30

Entrants will be contacted with additional drop-off details.

For this auction, all participating artists are asked to donate artwork incorporating a mirror as an intentional element of the work. Please note the following size and weight requirements:

• The mirror component must not exceed 12” in width. Maximum height is 48”.
• The completed piece must weigh no more than 20 pounds.

These guidelines ensure the safety of our installation and allow for consistent display across all works.

EXHIBITION CONCEPT:

“Reflections” is a unique art exhibition and auction centered on mirrors as both functional objects and expressive art pieces. This collaboration between the AIA Florida Gulf Coast and the SARTQ Artist Collective highlights the dialogue between architectural form and artistic expression.

PURPOSE:

The event aims to showcase innovative designs that blend utility with creativity, encouraging audiences to reconsider everyday objects through an artistic lens. 

EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHTS:

- A curated collection of mirrors transformed into artworks, merging aesthetics with functionality.

- Pieces that engage viewers by reflecting both their image and deeper ideas about perspective and environment.

- Collaborative works that demonstrate the intersection of architectural design principles with artistic experimentation.
