The Project Architect is the project’s technical leader responsible for the project's successful completion.  

 

Project Architects are responsible for the design, consultant coordination, and documentation of a project from initiation through construction administration. The Project Architect completes work under the direction of the Project Manager/Principal and is responsible for forwarding the project's design excellence and technical performance while working within the project schedule and budget limits. 

 

Minimum Experience, Education, and/or Training 

+        5-8 years of work experience in architectural or related fields.

Responsibilities 

+        Draw and oversee the execution of complete and accurate architectural design and construction drawings to promote design excellence, including budget consciousness, durability of design, and understanding of the construction process.

+        Distribute Notes and Deadlines after each meeting.

Job Summary

The Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) Director of Construction/Architecture is a professional who leads and oversees SMHCS new construction projects. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Construction/Architecture and the President of SMH-Sarasota, the Director of Construction/Architecture will act as an owner's representative, serving as an extension of the owner and a connector between the owner, project design teams, and the project construction teams, and will be responsible to manage each stage of a project to assure compliance with regulatory requirements, budget & timeline. The Sarasota Memorial Health Care System Director of Construction/Architecture is expected to act as the Owner's Project Manager (OPM) and shall oversee the entire project from planning and design to construction and closeout. The goal of the SMHCS Director of Construction/Architecture is to make sure the best interests of the owner are protected throughout the entire process, and beyond, by ensuring adherence to SMHCS standards with design excellence and high-quality project delivery.


Required Qualifications

- Require a bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or equivalent discipline. Relevant work experience in directing healthcare system master planning and/or construction can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required degree.
- Require a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in directing healthcare system master planning and/or construction. - Require budget management experience with a focus on delivering the project within budget from the very start of the planning and design phase through construction and closeout. This includes regular reviews all project documentation, project invoices and submits to the Owner detailed financial reports to ensure consistent and accurate tracking of all project costs throughout all phases of the project to protect the overall project budget. - Require experience in planning construction processes, construction schedules, resources acquisition, project milestone timelines and recognizing risks and devising proactive mitigation methods.
- Require current/active Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) certification by the American Hospital Association (AHA).


Preferred Qualifications

- Prefer demonstrated Computer-Aided Drafting Design (CADD) literacy and a minimum of schematic level drafting skills, as well as knowledge of basic computer software (Word; Excel; Outlook, PowerPoint) and standard construction management software.
- Prefer the ability to maintain a high level of organization by overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to interact and interface with all levels of staff and management.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical engineering as they relate to architectural design, and the ability to demonstrate working knowledge of AHCA in Florida for hospitals and infection control.
