Professional degree in architecture from an accredited program with State of Florida architectural license or ability to obtain reciprocity

5+ years of experience in an architectural office (required)

Proactive individual with a sense of urgency to multi-task on multiple projects and assignments

Flexibility to work in collaborative environment with a team, as well as independently

Strong graphic skills and technical capability to critically think through the development of a design into documentation, knowledge of drawing standards, and some understanding of code requirement/compliance

Excellent communication skills

Project Manager Administrator III – Capital Projects (11-14-22)

Sarasota County is currently looking for a Project Manager/Administrator III in our Capital Projects PRNR/Facilities division. In this role you will be accountable managing all aspects of Capital Improvement Projects from “cradle to grave”, for planning through implementation, procurements, design, permitting, bidding, construction and close-out functions.  Project sizes range from $2M to >$50M.  Come join a creative team that is dedicated to improving Sarasota. Job responsibilities include:

  • Supports CIP Project planning including project processes, budgets and schedules.
  • Acts as main point of contact for all stakeholders and vendors on assigned projects.
  • Drafts solicitations for Professional Services, reviews proposals, negotiates and drafts consultant contracts.  Monitors contract budget and schedule and approves invoices.
  • Reviews milestone design documents and coordinates stakeholder reviews.
  • Reviews permitting requirements and monitors permitting activities.
  • Plans and attends public meetings, addresses media contacts, and coordinates public outreach efforts.
  • Coordinates construction bidding through Procurement on DBB projects.
  • Drafts solicitations for Construction Manager on CM projects, reviews proposals, negotiates and drafts contracts.  Monitors contract budget and schedule and approves invoices.
  • Manages construction contract and participates in OAC meetings representing Owner Department.
  • Ensures County standards are being adhered to.
  • Monitors budget with respect to construction contingencies and change management.
  • Provides on-site resolution of construction issues.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture or Engineering, Project/Construction Management, or highly related field with five (5) years of construction and/or capital project management experience. 
  • Master’s degree in one of the above-mentioned fields can substitute for one year of required experience. 
  • Related experience can substitute for education on a year for year basis depending on the type of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Architect License in the State of Florida or NCARB certificate.  Active LEED AP or AP with specialty.  Active PMP certification.
