Hurricane Support
AIA Florida is continuing to collect funds to help communities impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton and conduct our ongoing assessment and preparation for our Safety Assessment Program (SAP) professionals. You may donate HERE. We will coordinate with local components to identify where these funds can best be utilized.
Architects are needed to conduct damage assessments in areas hit by the storms. It is preferred that you have completed the SAP training. Volunteers must be available for four to seven consecutive days and some locations do not have a base camp which will require arrangement of your own housing. You must be licensed in Florida to practice architecture to be protected by Florida’s Good Samaritan law when responding to declared emergencies. DISASTER RECOVERY:
RESTORING A SENSE OF PLACE
In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Architecture Sarasota is announcing its latest initiative: Restoring a Sense of Place.
Restoring a Sense of Place is Architecture Sarasota’s disaster response program designed to offer those who own, value or care about Sarasota School and other significant structures the tools to take control of situations where time is of the essence.
The goal of this new program is to support residents, organizations, and agencies in the recovery of Sarasota School of Architecture and other significant buildings and sites damaged by natural disasters.
