Join fellow SAF Members for a visit to the Luhn Residence, a 1962 Ralph Twitchell design still in its vintage state. After touring the home, enjoy a talk by historic preservation consultant, Lorrie Muldowney.

About The Luhn Residence

The Luhn Residence was built for Mr. Wickliffe Atkins Luhn (1914-1983) and Mrs. Eugenie Barabara Luhn (1920-2007) in 1962. They raised five children in the house: David, John, Victor, Christopher and Barbara Ann. Mr. Luhn was a stockbroker with the Sarasota office of A.G. Edwards and Mrs. Luhn taught elementary school and wrote for the Siesta Key Pelican.

The 4-bedroom, 3-bath wood-frame house comprises about 4,00 sq. ft. (with 2,300 sq. ft. "under air"). It sits at the end of a dead-end street, backing up to Phillippi Creek, with 200 feet of waterfront. It contains many features that were quite advanced for the time period - like a 2-car carport and central air-conditioning - as well as typical Sarasota-School features like large expanses of glass, wide overhangs and screened-in areas. The Luhns sold the house in 1969, but subsequent owners have maintained the house in its original state.
