The "Art in Architecture" Featured Home Tour

Date: May 12

A members-only exclusive tour of a newly remodeled Guy Peterson designed-home expertly built by Michael K. Walker with landscape architecture by David W. Young.  The Bird Key home of Judith and Stephen Shank features an exceptional modern art collection expertly curated and displayed throughout the modern interiors.



The Art of the Sketch Class

Date: May 12

Time:  1pm – 3pm

Cost: CFAS Members $50, Nonmembers $50

This workshop will explore a variety of formats to develop skill in free-hand drawing. Participants will sketch quick impressions of live models, urban cityscapes and their own creative visual expression from their thoughts and imagery. The goal of this course is for participants to achieve a level of comfort in sketching while traveling, relaxing or pressed to come up with a concept for a project at hand.

“Art meets Architecture” walking tour by John McCarthy

In this special Modern Show walking tour, we will blur the boundaries between art and architecture as we stretch our legs around downtown Sarasota. We will explore three realms including public art, art forms displayed in architecture, and architecture that serves the arts community. This tour will be approximately two hours in length, so bring your walking shoes and camera.
