The Florida Foundation for Architecture, along with AIA Florida & AIA Florida Gulf Coast, is launching the Architecture in Education program this April at Bay Haven Elementary School in Sarasota! The eight-week curriculum-enrichment program matches professional architects with classroom teachers and sharpens a student's math, social studies, art, and other core academics with real-life, project-based learning.
We would like your help! The program will begin April 4 at Bay Haven. On Tuesday afternoons for 8 weeks, architect volunteers will teach a 90-minute session on various architecture topics from 2:15 - 3:45 PM to the four 4th-grade classes at Bay Haven Elementary School. All lesson plans and materials are provided!
Program Duration: 90 minutes every Tuesday afternoon, 2:15 - 3:45 PM, April 4 - May 23
Please indicate which days you are available to teach using the sign up form below:
VOLUNTEER SIGN UP FORM
We have committed to providing one lead volunteer in each of the four classes, who will be present for each of the eight Tuesday afternoons (2:15-3:45 PM), and a second volunteer in each classroom who will assist. Please volunteer as your schedule permits - we need 3 more permanent volunteers and additional volunteers for as little as one Tuesday, or all 8 sessions!
I will act as the School/Program Coordinator between volunteers and the school. My role will be to coordinate logistics, materials and messages between volunteers and the school administration.

Thank you in advance for helping build an awareness for architecture amongst our kids: our profession's future clients, decision-makers, members, occupants and opinion-holders.
