Sarasota Design Conference is still taking place with 6 amazing speakers from 4 different countries, a panel discussion and a workshop offering participants to earn 14.5 HSW/LU during the 2-day event.

In order to make your participation as safe and rewarding as possible, we have made several adjustments to the conference schedule and physical space as well as adding a virtual attendance option. We are now open for registration again.

SCHEDULE CHANGES
  • The duration of the conference day has been reduced. The day will start later, and the evening events are cancelled.  Our Bar Sponsors have been transferred to Coffee Break Sponsorship.  See revised 2020 Sarasota Design Conference Schedule
  • Some speakers will be presenting virtually.  We will inform you of virtual presentations closer to the date.
  • The Design & Honor Awards presentation will be viewable online followed by a live Q & A session with the speaker. 
  • The Chapter Annual Meeting will take place during the Saturday coffee break.
  • The Carbon Zero Workshop will have an option to participate virtually.  Although the Workshop is free to Conference attendees, space is limited for the workshop and you must complete a separate registration to attend.


ATTENDANCE
You are provided with two alternate ways of attending the 2020 Sarasota Design Conference: physical or virtual.  Both cost the same. At the moment we are only accepting registration for virtual participation.  Closer to the date, space permitting, we will give virtual attendees the option to switch to physical attendance should they wish to do so.

We list below the circumstances for both methods so that you can decide on your preference. 

PHYSICAL ATTENDANCE
  • Registration will be hands free.  Your registration bags, including lanyards, and T-shirts ordered will be placed on your desks the night before.
  • Attendees will be given the opportunity to choose their desk. If no desk is selected prior to the event, it will be assigned.  You are required to use the same desk throughout the conference. The Conference Hall will be limited to 72-person occupancy.
  • Art Ovation has increased the space available so that attendees can spread out.  Each attendee will be seated in the center of a 6ft desk with all desks spaced 6” apart.
  • Art Ovation has added heightened hygiene standards to safeguard their guests.  Please read their Commitment to Cleanliness.
  • All participants in the conference are required to wear an N95 mask (provided in your registration bag) while indoors unless consuming food/drinks or if outside and more than 6ft away from others.  It is advisable that you minimize consuming food or beverages while indoors and within 6ft of others. (See CDC guidelines on wearing masks HERE)
  • Exhibitor tables will be relocated to the pre-function area with all tables spaced a minimum of 6ft apart.
  • Exhibitor presentations will take place during coffee break followed by an opportunity for attendees to visit exhibitor tables and ask questions.  This hour is important to give our valued sponsors and vendors the opportunity to meet with their specifiers. 
  • All food will be served in pre-packaged boxes.  This was already the case for lunch and is extended to breakfast. Breakfast will be placed at your desk by hotel staff prior to your arrival. We encourage you to go outdoors to have your breakfast before the conference commences.
  • The lunch venue has been moved outdoors.  Attendees will have a choice to eat their box lunch at the pool-side or outdoor terrace.  During the lunch break the Conference Hall will be closed for sanitization.
  • Drinks will either be provided in closed containers or served by hotel staff in containers with a fitted lid.
  • Participants can ask questions to speakers physically via questions cards (provided in conference bag) or digitally through the video conference platform chat line. 

VIRTUAL ATTENDANCE
  • The conference will be presented live via a video conference platform. Participants will be able to watch the presentation as well as the presenter’s face just like a normal video conference call. Please be advised that if you do not wish to appear on the participants’ screen you will need to turn off your video.
  • Virtual participants will be able to interact with speakers via the video conference platform to ask questions by “raising their hand”.
  • The Lightning Talks and Annual Meeting will be presented live via a video conference platform. 
  • Participants will be able to ask sponsors and exhibitors questions during the Friday coffee break via the video conference platform chat line.
  • Virtual attendees will be required to take part in a mock conference session one week prior to the event to ensure that they have the necessary software and hardware, and are able fully participate in the event.


Additional information for all attendees
All participants will have password-protected access to the recording of the conference for a limited time after the event.
