Tour #1 - Lido Shores Walking Tour - Sarasota Architecture Foundation

Christopher Wilson, BArch, MA, PhD

Dr. Christopher Wilson teaches architecture and design history at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. He also currently serves as Board Chair of the Sarasota Architectural Foundation.  Originally from Philadelphia, Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Temple University, a Master of Arts degree from The Architectural Association, London, England, and a PhD from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. Before entering the world of academia, Dr. Wilson worked as an architect in Philadelphia, Berlin, and London, and is registered with the Royal Institute of British Architects.  Dr. Wilson’s most recent publication is the Sarasota chapter in a monograph on the life and work of "Sarasota School" architect Victor Lundy, to be published by Princeton Architectural Press in November 2018.


Tour #2 - Downtown Sarasota - Center for Architecture Sarasota

Harold Bubil

Harold Bubil’s first byline in a Sarasota newspaper was printed in December 1974. After serving in a variety of roles with the Sarasota Journal and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, he was real estate editor of the Herald-Tribune from 1994 until his recent retirement. In addition, he has written about architecture for the paper since 1999, and has even covered a few national hurricane conferences along the way. His favorite topics, in addition to real estate and architecture, include development history and green building.

He offers tours and lectures on architecture, real estate and development history. “Florida Buildings I Love,” a weekly series in the Herald-Tribune, is the topic of one of those lectures.

In 2015, he received the Bob Graham Architectural Awareness Award from the Florida-Caribbean chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

In 2017, he received the Gold Award from the National Association of Real Estate Editors for the nation’s best residential real estate story of 2016. He was NAREE’s president in 2012.
